What inspires us to design a room?

This is a question I frequently get asked... What is the starting point for the design of a room? Most often that not, we will start with an area rug that has the colors and the feel that we want for the whole room, or a textile that has the perfect pattern and hues. However, for the 2016 Pasadena Showcase House of Design, we were inspired by a piece or artwork we discovered at our favorite art gallery, Fresh Paint Art Advisors in Culver City, Los Angeles.

I FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS ARTWORK PIECE

The stunning painting by Chase Langford had the cool vibe we wanted for our guest house design and was the starting point for all color, fabrics and furniture decisions forall rooms in a stand alone structure of a large home in La Canada Flintridge, CA. Blue was the main accent color with lots of white to create a relaxing vacation feel and a touch of sunny yellow and gold accents. Casual furniture, grasscloth, print wallpapers and accents with lots of texture were the perfect complement to stunning pieces of artwork that were all specially curated for this design showcase house.
