When we first stepped into this very outdated midcentury structure at the 2022 Pasadena Showcase House of Design, we immediately fell in love with the bright open main room that had an existing basic kitchen besides the two dressing rooms with full bathrooms. We wanted the kitchen to look like a bar so all appliances are undercounter except for the wine sommelier that is the perfect statement for any entertaining space.

HOW DO WE CHOOSE APPLIANCES FOR AN ENTERTAINING KITCHEN?
We decided to convert the old kitchen into a brand new entertaining one, reconfiguring all the appliances and selecting Monogram's luxury collection to get both the looks and the function. The first selection was the Monogram 30" Fully Integrated Wine Sommelier. What I love about this sommelier is that it holds up to 72 bottles in the dual zone wine storage that has two different temperature controlled zones. The middle drawer is a freezer with electronic ice maker in crescent shape, and as we showed at Showcase, the perfect spot for to keep pint sized ice cream in multiple yummy flavors. My most favorite was the bottom convertible drawer that can be used to store 28 more bottles of wine, as a fresh food drawer or as a freezer since the temperature can be adjusted. We showed the door clad in a metallic muted brass finish that complemented the rift cut oak white cabinetry perfectly.
Instead of a traditional range, we featured a 30" induction cooktop to keep our 14' countertop uncluttered and still get all the cooking functions when needed. The 5 in 1 oven with Advantium technology that we added to our selection, is another highly flexible appliance since it can be used as a convection oven, toaster oven, warming/proofing oven, presicion cook oven and microwave. Wow! I love appliances that multifunction for smaller spaces.
We completed the selections with and undercabinet icemaker, a full size dishwasher and a warming drawer. Plumbing by Kohler and light fixtures where a matte brass that contrasted the large quartz slab by Silestone. The Thibaut natural grasscloth added the perfect texture and warmth to the walls. The floors were porcelain oversize tiles that were suitable also for outdoors and were non slippery, perfect for coming in with wet feet from the pool.
